Quite Possibly the Best Baby Ever!

Hello, everyone! My name is Collin Robert! I was born July 5, 2008 at 11:16 am, and weighed 7lbs 2 oz, and measured 20inches long. I'm growing really quickly already! Mom set up this website for me, so I can keep all my friends and family updated on how I am doing. Everyone tells me I have a BIG family. I can't wait to meet you all!

Collin was downright crabby yesterday.  I think his tummy was upset, poor little guy.  But even a crabby Collin is still a very good natured Collin.  I rubbed his tummy for awhile, and that seemed to fix what ails him.

Right now, he’s hanging out in his bouncy seat, listening to the music and watching the little animals move around.  He’s still a little too small to get full use out of it, but I think that will change soon. *sniffle*  Today he’s tried to put his pacifier back in his mouth twice.  He manages to get the ring and pull it out of his mouth, and then he gets upset without the pacifier.  He kept trying to bring it back up to his mouth, but obviously couldn’t coordinate the movement to get it back in, which upset him even MORE!  “It’s right there…soooo close, and yet soooo far away!”

Yesterday, I worked on his baby book for him.  I got a lot of it filled out, which is good.  It was hard, though…he’s only been here 3 weeks, but I feel like the world has grown exponentially in those 3 weeks.  How do you sum that up into just a few pages?

Before Collin was born, a friend of mine told me that you never really understand how much your parents love you until you have a child of your own.  Hooboy, yeah.  I can’t even get through writing that out without getting choked up.  I love that boy so much, it breaks my heart on a daily basis.

How I got my name

Everyone asks how Collin got his name.  So here’s the official answer:

He has the same last name as his daddy, so no, he’ is not Collin Collins.  (Give me some credit, ok?).

His middle name is a family name.  My godfather is named Robert.  Collin’s dad’s middle name is Robert.  Also, his great-grandfather (his dad’s grandfather) is named Robert.  I had a step-cousin named Robert, who died unexpectedly and very young.  So Robert is a good name to honor all of our families.

I’ve always liked the name Colin, but I wanted to spell it with 2 “L“‘s, to honor my family, and to honor Collin’s dad.  Collin’s dad is named Shon, which sounds exactly like Shawn or Sean, or Shaun.  I love the way Shon spells his name.  It’s different, but not so out there you’re like “huh?  What’s your name again?”  So we decided to spell Collin’s name slightly differently, to honor his dad.  And by spelling it this way, we honor my dad’s family, too.

See?  There’s a method to my madness.

Collin has had a busy couple of days.  His Grandma Teommey is visiting him this week.  Meeting new people always wears him out.  On top of that, he’s going through a growth spurt, I think.  He ate and ate and ate all day yesterday, putting away 28 ounces of formula.  When he wasn’t eating, he was sleeping.  Today, his appetite has dropped from yesterday’s feeding frenzy, and he’s been a little clingy.  The only thing that has really made him happy is to be held by me.  He managed to settle down for an hour nap with Grandma, too.

He is a really sweet little boy.  He sleeps in 3-4 hour blocks, which is SO nice.  About once a week, he’ll go through a little fit where he’ll wake up every hour and eat.  That gets a little old, but I figure it’s probably one of those things that goes along with growth spurts.

He’s cuddly and sweet, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Getting ready to go home!  This was taken July 8.  I have grown A LOT since then!  Don’t I look cute in my little froggy outfit?  The Froggies are Mom’s favorite, and she’ll be very sad when I don’t fit into them anymore!

Two weeks old!

I’m 2 weeks old today!  Wow, time has really flown by.  I’ve already gained about 1lb since I was born, and I no longer fit into newborn diapers.  Very soon, I won’t be able to wear my newborn clothes anymore.  That’s just fine by me…I’d rather be naked anyway!
